Dear volunteers
Thank you again for your time, enthusiasm and willingness to make this world a better place and inspire young women! We have touched base with most of you in a way or another but here we want to put in one place most of the information you might need. This year we have 25 students: 21 from NM, and 4 from Hawaii in the pm. The Hawaii team will only join after noon but we are planning on having talks recorded and slides on website so students can take benefit of the information as well. Students: we have students from advanced 7th grade to 11 grade. See attachment for stats and background on other aspects (school, dreams, goals etc). Schedule: attached is a copy of the latest schedule of the camp
When can you join?: We encourage y'all to participate in the camp anytime
you want. Please communicate your availability here:
None of us is available for the whole camp so we will need support behind the scenes to pull it off. If you can only spare the time for your talk, activity or demo, we strongly encourage you to join for the whole block of time (AM, PM) or at least during the break before your activity so we can troubleshoot your connection. Please, tell us in the chat you are in the room or email to lanl-physics-camp@lanl.gov with your name and telling us you are connected so we know you are ready. Camp Website: We are building a website like we did last year (https://sites.google.com/view/2019-summer-physics-camp) and we will add your materials or links as we receive them. Slides: please send them sometime next week to lanl-physics-camp@lanl.gov if the file is small or upload to allobet@lanl.gov through transfer.lanl.gov server. We will put them on the camp website as soon as we receive them. You will still have time to change slides and send updates. How: The camp will happen as a google meet event ( https://meet.google.com/uuo-kmch-xro ). This is an invite for the whole two weeks. We will establish two sessions today (https://meet.google.com/dfv-hrtr-rzu) and Thursday (https://meet.google.com/yde-bgzd-xnt ) for y-F˘all to try getting in and us -A to practice a bit and be comfortable with google meets. You will need a camera and a microphone. [This is all new for most of us so please be patient with us. Also communicate if you find issues!] Social times: before we start at 10 and during lunch time we will have social times. These are non mandatory times but we are looking for ideas on things we could do to engage the students. Materials: we will be offering pick up times for materials for the students this weekend. We need to create 21 packages with all the materials before Friday. If you are leading an activity, we need your help assembling those materials. We might need someone to bring some bags to Santa Fe for the kids in Santa Fe. I am injured and I cannot drive that far at the moment. Additional volunteers: If you will be bringing additional volunteers to your activity besides the ones named in the schedule, please, let me know so we can properly account and communicate with them. We can do this!! Anna Llobet |
